Improving Public Awareness in the Village Limbungan, Rumbai Timur District, Pekanbaru City Regarding Consumer Rights in Electronic Transactions Based on Law Number 8 Of 1999 Concerning Consumer Protection

Abstract

The problem faced by partners in community service activities is the lack of knowledge among the community of Limbungan Village, East Rumbai District, Pekanbaru City, regarding consumer rights in electronic transactions based on Law Number 8 of 1999 concerning Consumer Protection. The solution offered in community service activities is to increase the knowledge of the community in Limbungan Village, East Rumbai District, Pekanbaru City, regarding consumer rights in electronic transactions based on Law Number 8 of 1999 concerning Consumer Protection. The methods used in implementing community service activities are lectures, dialogues, and discussions in order to provide legal counseling to the community of Limbungan Village, East Rumbai District, Pekanbaru City. The participation of partners in community service activities is the Head of Limbungan Village, who participates by providing time, a venue and supporting facilities, as well as inviting the community of Limbungan Village, East Rumbai District, Pekanbaru City as participants in the activity. The community service activity was held on Monday, January 1, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at RW 04, Limbungan Village, Rumbai Timur District, Pekanbaru City. The community service activity was attended by 20 participants. In conclusion, the community service activity was successfully implemented and beneficial to the participants. Before the activity was carried out, only 23% of the 20 participants answered the material to be presented correctly. Meanwhile, after the activity was carried out, 67% of the participants answered that they understood the material presented. Community service regarding consumer rights in electronic transactions based on Law Number 8 of 1999 concerning Consumer Protection should be carried out continuously in other villages in Pekanbaru City.
