Enhancing Civil Engineering Students' Knowledge of Sustainable Development

Abstract

Sustainable development is an important issue that must be understood by civil engineering students as future professional engineers. The lack of comprehensive understanding of the role and challenges of civil engineers in sustainable development is the background for this community service activity. The activity aims to increase the knowledge of civil engineering students through public lectures. The community service method was carried out through material presentation by resource persons, interactive discussions, and evaluation of participants' understanding. The results of the activity showed an increase in students' knowledge and awareness of the importance of applying sustainable development principles in the field of civil engineering. This activity made a positive contribution to strengthening students' academic competencies. Thus, public lectures can be an effective medium in efforts to increase Civil Engineering students' knowledge related to sustainable development.
